Job Description

This role sits in the Digital Technology team and focuses on keeping ARPANSA’s enterprise infrastructure running smoothly across both on-prem and cloud environments.

What this really means is you’ll be doing a mix of hands-on engineering, operational support, and incremental improvements. You’ll work fairly independently, solve real issues, and play a part in modernising the environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and optimise enterprise infrastructure across cloud and on-prem
• Deliver system upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management
• Support day-to-day service operations including incident and problem management
• Lead or contribute to legacy system migrations
• Monitor performance, identify risks, and resolve issues early
• Work with stakeholders to align technical solutions with business needs
• Produce and maintain technical documentation
• Support vendor engagement and technology evaluations

Education/Certifications required

• Relevant tertiary qualification in IT or equivalent experience
• Microsoft, VMware, or Azure certifications are beneficial

Knowledge/Skills required

Strong experience across enterprise infrastructure, including:

• VMware vSphere (essential), exposure to Hyper-V
• Windows Server administration across on-prem and Azure
• Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, certificate management
• Microsoft 365 (Entra ID, Conditional Access, SSO/SAML, Defender)
• Backup and recovery solutions (Veeam, Azure Backup)
• Exchange (ideally hybrid), SharePoint, Intune, SCCM
• Azure platform (compute, storage, networking)
• Monitoring tools like Azure Monitor or SolarWinds
• Solid networking fundamentals

You’ll also bring:

• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills
• Ability to manage competing priorities and stay calm under pressure
• Clear communication across both technical and non-technical audiences
• A practical, hands-on approach with good judgement

Experience in ITIL, ISM, or PSPF environments is highly regarded.
